reminder to burn up the unwanted inefficiency's of this past year in the fire of transformation. sweeping the ashes of the old year out to clear room for the fresh potential of intentional growth. completing the receptivity of the new manifestation of the new year by taking the new you into being.

a simple ritual to achieve this spell includes:
  • cast a circle, honor the directions
  • a speaking, naming or writing of the unwanted of this past year
  • the burning of the writing/drawing or of sacred herbs or resins to allow for the ritual of release and transformation of the unwanted
  • the traditional sweeping of the ashes out of your circle, can be actual ashes or the movement of clearing
  • a speaking, naming or writing/drawing of the intentions for this new year
  • then taking into yourself the new way of being by drinking a celebratory libation
  • honor the directions and close the circle

today is the new moon, the dark moon, the blood moon, the fertile moon.
traditionally women gather together and celebrate their blood cycles during  this phase of the moon and we call it moonlodge. it is an auspicious time to plant seeds of intent. to watch this intention grow by the waxing moon and come to completion by the waning moon - in preparation for the next cycle. just as  the the cycle of the womb, a universe of intent waiting to happen.

ritually september holds the harvest moon (the full moon) and on this moon we capture the essence of the harvest. in ancient times, as the nights grew longer people used the light of the full moon to harvest their bounty. it is an honored tradition to look to the moon this month and watch as the moon swells full, shinning light on your bounty.

in planting your seed of intent write it down, place this intention in an obvious place - a place you see everyday (like on top of your altar). try to find a one word seed - simple and to the point and think of it growing, becoming manifest.

seed planting song, passed down to me by wise women
during the ritual of moonlodge on the new moon:

dark of the moon
new beginnings
dark of the moon
plant a seed tonight
(sing your seed of intent for the month)
dark of the moon
what we/i envision
will come to be
by the full moonlight
